I am truly honored to serve as your Police Chief, and I am committed to providing the highest level of service to our residents and business owners. The Town of Plattekill Police Department is proud of its history. The dedicated men and women of this police department have been protecting and serving our town, with the highest level of honesty, integrity, and commitment.
Chief Lopez strongly believes in building community trust. Community policing is a primary focus for our Department. I want to ensure that our work has deep roots in transparency and that we work together with our citizens to develop mutual trust between the police department and the community. Deputy Chief William C Smith
Deputy Chief
Deputy Chief William C. Smith began his law enforcement career in 1984 with the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, starting in the Corrections Division before transitioning to the Patrol Division. After two years, he joined the Town of Ulster Police Department, where he served for several years. He became a member of one of the department’s first K-9 teams, working alongside his K-9 partner while serving on road patrol and rising to the rank of Sergeant. In 2006, Deputy Chief Smith joined the Plattekill Police Department, where he steadily advanced through the ranks, ultimately achieving the rank of Lieutenant.
